Yesterday I lodged a motion in the House of Commons to highlight the upcoming Powerboat P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea.
The inaugural Scottish Grand Prix will be held here in Inverclyde on the 18th and 19th of June. The event is being held by Powerboat P1, a leading marine motorsport promoter that has staged more than 200 events in 17 countries across the world.
I’m delighted that Inverclyde will be the focus of international attention when we host the first ever Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea.
In lodging a parliamentary motion, I want others to see that Inverclyde’s transport links and spectacular scenery make us an attractive tourism destination.
It’s estimated that the economic impact of the powerboat grand prix will be approximately £2.5 million. There’s absolutely no reason why we cannot build on the success of hosting the powerboat grand prix to entice other major events to visit Inverclyde.
More information about the upcoming event can be found by visiting the Powerboat Superstock website.
