Meetings are being set up throughout Inverclyde to help people find out more about the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
There are meetings being organised across Inverclyde that will look at
- Community participation in community planning.
- New powers for communities to formally request to participate in the planning and delivery of services in their area.
- Increased powers for communities to use and control publically owned buildings for community purposes.
The meetings, which are taking place within the newly agreed ‘Wellbeing Localities’, have been designed to inform people about the recently published regulations, which tell us how the Act will be put into practice, while allowing the opportunity for comment. Discussions will include how everyone can work together to make the most of the opportunities and rights afforded to communities by the Act.
These events are a fantastic opportunity to find out more about what the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 means for Inverclyde.
It is important for the future of our communities that we all learn how this Act can be used to benefit our community so that we make the most of the opportunities and rights it gives us.
Therefore, I would encourage residents of Inverclyde to attend the meetings to learn more.
