Next week the 16th to the 22nd of November is Parliament week. It is coordinated by the House of Commons with support from the House of Lords. The week consists of a programme of events and activities that aim to connect people with Parliament and democracy in the UK.
There are four events around Scotland organised next week, from a free screening of Selma to a discussion on the future of the European Democracy. These events will be exploring what parliamentary democracy means to people and to our community.
I would encourage everyone to #DoDemocracy and get involved in any way that they can, whether you are attending an event or taking part in the conversation online by following the hashtag.
This week plays a small part of opening up parliament to make it as transparent and accessible for everyone, we still have a long, long, way to go, but this week is a positive move in that direction.
